DiGregorio, Pinto help Blackwater deal Rain or Shine fourth straight loss

STA. ROSA, Laguna -- John Pinto nailed the biggest basket as Blackwater repulsed Rain or Shine 99-93 in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup on Sunday here.

Pinto drilled in the go-ahead three-pointer off a kickout pass from Allein Maliksi to take a 97-92 lead with 15.4 ticks remaining.

Maverick Ahanmisi split his freebies in the ensuing play, before Mike DiGregorio sealed their sixth win in seven games with a pair of free throws.

Blackwater grabbed a share of the lead with Ginebra, while keeping the Elasto Painters listless in their first four assignments.

DiGregorio led Blackwater with 17 points, including 12 in the third period where the Elite led by as much as 16 points.

DiGregorio uncorked a trey with 3:03 remaining in the third period to give the Elite a 68-52 lead. But the Elasto Painters refused to go down without a fight, unleashing a 12-5 run to end the frame, 73-64.

Desperate to chalk up their first win, the Elasto Painters slowly chewed up chunks of the lead and pulled to within three, 87-90 on Maverick Ahanmisi's triple.

Pinto, though, answered back with a triple of his own before hitting another with 15.4 to go to shut the door on the Elasto Painters.

Pinto finished with 16 points and five rebounds, while Maliksi had 13 markers, five boards, three assists, and the same number of steals.

Walker posted a triple-double outing of 14 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists.
