STA. ROSA, Laguna - Raymond Almazan was nowhere to be found in Rain or Shine's 93-99 loss to Blackwater on Sunday.
Rain or Shine head coach Caloy Garcia told reporters after the match at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Sports Complex that Almazan hasn't been reporting to the team for the past three days.
"I haven't talked to him for the last three days so we really don't know where he is," Garcia said.
Garcia said Almazan hasn't talked to anyone on the team. Not even the management knows the whereabouts of the 6-foot-8 beanpole.
"Even management can't get a hold of him so we don't know what's going on with Raymond," he added.
Rain or Shine definitely missed his presence as the Elite exploited his absence on the way to their sixth win in seven games for a share of the lead with Ginebra.
But Garcia and the Elasto Painters are not making excuses.
"Well, he's our tallest player. He's the one who leads this team in rebounding and of course his defense is important," Garcia said. "But like I said, we have to do without him, we have to work with what we have and find ways to win with what we have."
Aside from Almazan, James Yap also didn't play for Rain or Shine. Turns out, Yap is in Toronto, Canada, but will be back on Tuesday.
"He has a guesting there. They invited him there. It's a yearly thing," he said.
