The Phoenix Fuel Masters battled back from a double digit deficit to pull off a come-from-behind 103-97 win over Rain or Shine in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup on Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The win moved the Fuel Masters to fourth place in the standings with a 7-3 record and improved their chances for a twice-to-beat edge in the playoffs.
Rain or Shine reeled to a third straight loss for a 2-6 record on the season.
Eugene Phelps posted 18 points, 20 rebounds, seven assists, and five blocks for the Fuel Masters, who trailed by as many as 16 points in the third period.
Calvin Abueva had a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Matthew Wright notched 17 points and hit 3-of-9 from beyond the 3-point line.
LA Revilla had 13 points, four rebounds, six assists, and two steals, while Justin Chua and Jason Perkins combined for 22.
Phoenix head coach Louie Alas, though, was not happy with the way the Fuel Masters played.
"I didn't like our attitude. We were careless. We wanted to win the shootout, not the defensive battle," said Alas during the postgame interview.
After halftime, the Elasto Painters went on a 16-5 run. It took a while before the Fuel Masters could recover from that hole.
Down by 10 entering the fourth period, the Fuel Masters got it going and outscored the Elasto Painters, 19-6 in the first eight minutes.
Phoenix grabbed the lead after Jazul drilled in a triple with 4:45 remaining. Another 3 by Revilla more than three minutes later shut the door on Rain or Shine for good, 98-93.
Chris Tiu led Rain or Shine with 24 points, two rebounds, three assists, and three blocks. James Yap chipped in 14 points.
Jewel Ponferrada and Maverick Ahanmisi had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

-Tiu carved out a new career-high in points, exactly seven days since registering 23 points at the same venue.
Phoenix takes Blackwater on November 4 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Rain or Shine will play San Miguel on October 27 at the Alonte Sports Arena.
