The Phoenix Fuel Masters have agreed in principle to send the No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 Gatorade PBA Rookie Draft and its second-round pick in the 2019 draft to the NLEX Road Warriors for Alex Mallari and Dave Marcelo.
The trade was submitted to the league office on Thursday but has not yet been approved by the PBA Office of the Commissioner.
The trade proposal was confirmed to ESPN5 by Phoenix coach Louie Alas.
"In principle, both teams have agreed. Dave and Alex for our first-round pick (No. 4 overall) and second-round pick next year," Alas said in Filipino. "I already know who I want at No. 4 but the problem is I don't know who the top three picks will be. I might not get who I want. What we want, though, was presented in this deal -- a reliable utility guard which is Alex. Then I was considering Abu Tratter at No. 4 but then they offered Dave, who is similar to Tratter -- same height and same physique. Everything we need, we got with just one pick."
Alas on the first day of the PBA Draft Combine said Phoenix wanted a point guard and a forward in the draft. He also said there was no guarantee Phoenix would keep the No. 4 pick and that they were open to listen to any trade offers.
Mallari averaged 6.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists for the Road Warriors in the 2018 Governors' Cup, while Dave Marcelo only put up 2.4 points and 2.5 rebounds a game.
