Mark Barroca was named the Honda PBA Press Corps MVP of the 2018 Governors' Cup finals series between the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok and Alaska Aces.
Barroca received the award after Magnolia clinched the title with a 102-86 in Game 6 on Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Barroca averaged 11.0 points, 3.2 rebounds 3.2 assists, and 1.8 steals throughout the best-of-seven affair, while playing solid defense on Alaska guards Chris Banchero and Simon Enciso.
"I wouldn't have won this without my teammates," Barroca said upon receiving the award.
"This is really special because the franchise hasn't won a championship in a long time," he added in the post-game interview. "We just worked really hard. Nobody expected we would reach the finals and win it all. I'm very thankful for my teammates. We wouldn't have won without the team effort and the willingness to win."
In the series clincher, Barroca scattered 13 markers, five rebounds and four assists.
