Go for Gold-CSB trips Perpetual, Akari-Adamson improves to 3-1

Go for Gold-CSB got off to a good start and went on to beat University of Perpetual Help, 81-69, on Tuesday to snap a two-game slump in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at the JCSGO gym in Cubao, Quezon City.

JJay Alejandro scored 23 points, Clement Leutcheu had 14 while Jerwin Gaco and Justin Gutang contributed 11 apiece for the Scratchers, who repelled repeated comebacks by the Altas.

The trio of Alejandro, Leutcheu and Gaco made their presence felt in the second quarter to help Go for Gold build its first double-digit lead at 39-29 advantage late in the second period.

"I think we're slowly getting the team that we want. But there's still some room for improvement because we turn the ball over too much," said coach Charles Tiu, noting the Scratchers' 30 turnovers which 11 more than the Altas.

Still, Tiu relished their second win in four games that tied Go for Gold with Wangs Basketball-Letran and Che'Lu Bar&Grill-San Sebastian for sixth to seventh spots.

Go for Gold's miscues enabled Perpetual to comeback from a double-digit deficit and moved within 54-59 after three quarters. But Alejandro struck again with successive three-pointers to spark a 10-0 run to keep the Altas at bay.

Rey Anthony Peralta paced Perpetual (1-2) with 18 points and two rebounds, while Kim Aurin had 17 markers and four boards.

Akari-Adamson picked up its second straight win by holding off Che'Lu Bar&Grill-San Sebastian, 84-75, in the second game.

Jerrick Ahanmisi scored 18 points, Jonathan Espeleta had 15, Egie Mojica added 12 while Papi Sarr chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Falcons, who improved to a 3-1 record.

Samboy de Leon and Alfred Batino tallied 14 each to pace the Revellers, who fell to 2-3.
