Former bantamweight world titlist Lee Haskins (35-4, 14 KOs), 35, of England, and Kenny Demecillo (14-4-2, 8 KOs), 26, of the Philippines, were ordered to begin negotiating their bantamweight title eliminator on July 6 but because their teams were not able to make a deal by the IBF-imposed deadline the sanctioning body on Tuesday scheduled a purse bid to determine the promoter of the bout. It is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET on Aug. 21 at the IBF offices in Springfield, New Jersey, though the camps can still make a deal until 15 minutes before the bids are unsealed. The winner of the fight would become the mandatory challenger for the winner of the 118-pound world title bout between titlist Emmanuel Rodriguez (18-0, 12 KOs) and current mandatory challenger Jason Moloney (17-0, 14 KOs). They will meet this fall in the quarterfinals of the World Boxing Super Series tournament, meaning the Haskins-Demecillo winner wouldn’t get their title shot until after the tournament concludes.
