Super middleweight world titlist Jose Uzcategui (27-2, 23 KOs), 27, of Venezuela, who was elevated from interim titleholder to full titlist by the IBF when James DeGale vacated the 168-pound belt in early July, was supposed to make his first defense against mandatory challenger Caleb Plant (17-0, 10 KOs), 26, of Las Vegas, on the Premier Boxing Champions card on Fox Sports 1 on Aug. 24. However, Plant recently broke his hand and the fight will be delayed until the late fall. “Broke my left hand on the pinky side and got two screws put in it,” Plant told ESPN on Wednesday. “I’ll be out a couple of months. I was sparring and hit someone on the tip of the elbow.”
