When Japan’s Hiroto Kyoguchi (10-0, 7 KOs) vacated his strawweight belt last month, the IBF ordered the Philippines’ Mark Anthony Barriga (9-0, 1 KO), a 25-year-old southpaw, and Mexico’s Carlos Licona (13-0, 2 KOs), 23, to fight for the 105-pound belt. Joven Sports, Barriga’s promoter, however, isn’t interested in negotiating the fight and asked the IBF to order an immediate purse. On Thursday, the IBF did just that, scheduling the purse bid for 12 p.m. ET on Aug. 20 at the organization’s offices in Springfield, New Jersey.
