Super middleweight world titlist Jose Uzcategui (27-2, 23 KOs), 27, a Venezuela native fighting out of Mexico, now has an opponent for his 10-round nontitle bout that will headline the Top Rank Boxing on ESPN+ card Sept. 28 (10:30 p.m. ET) at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, and his opponent is the same as his original one: Ezequiel Maderna (26-4, 16 KOs), 31, of Argentina. Maderna had been dropped from the fight nearly two weeks ago because he was having visa issues and Top Rank went looking for a new opponent. But before the company found one, Maderna resolved his visa problem and is back in the fight. “Maderna never stopped training and his visa came through so he is the opponent,” Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti told ESPN on Monday.
