Bantamweight Takuma Inoue (12-0, 3 KOs), 22, of Japan, outpointed Mark John Yap (29-12, 14 KOs), 29, a Japan-based Filipino, in a world title elimination fight on Tuesday in Tokyo. Inoue, the younger brother of three-division world titlist Naoya Inoue, won by scores of 117-110, 116-111 and 114-113. Inoue knocked Yap down in the fifth round. The win earned Inoue a mandatory world title fight against whoever wins the vacant WBC 118-pound belt, which is supposed to be contested by Nordine Oubaali, of France, and Thailand’s Petch Sor Chitpattana on a date to be determined.
