UE Red Warriors head coach and PAL Holdings President Lucio "Bong" Tan Jr., is now in stable condition after collapsing at a recreational league game at Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong Saturday morning.

Tan, 53 years old, was playing for Philippine Airlines against Exile in PinoyLiga when he collapsed on the bench with 2:56 left in the first half of the game and PAL leading 35-28. In a video obtained by ESPN5.com, teammates could be seen around him before they quickly carried him out of the venue.

The Tan family, through a statement released to the media, confirmed the development.

"He has been admitted to a nearby hospital where he remains in stable condition. He is currently under observation and will undergo a series of diagnostic tests. During this difficult time, the Tan family is requesting media and the public to respect their privacy," according to PAL Holdings spokesperson Cielo Villaluna.

Tan, along with active consultant Lawrence Chongson, steered the Red Warriors to a 4-10 card in their recently-concluded UAAP Season 82 campaign.

He was also named PAL Holdings head last October 29, replacing Gilbert Sta. Maria.

The son of taipan Lucio Tan heads the mother company of Philippine Airlines, the country's flag carrier.
