FOSHAN, China -- June Mar Fajardo did not participate in Gilas Pilipinas' practice on Sunday due to a mild ankle sprain.
Fajardo sat out and received treatment on his right ankle from Gilas trainer Dexter Aseron on the sidelines while his teammates ran drills.
"He has a slight sprain, but he is able to play tomorrow," Gilas coach Yeng Guiao told reporters after the practice. "We opted not to play him in practice today, but he should be OK tomorrow."
Fajardo was visibly hobbling in the second half of the loss to Italy. He still finished with nine points and six rebounds.
Gilas returns to action on Monday against Serbia, a team loaded with NBA talent such as Nikola Jokic, Bojan Bogdanovic and Boban Marjanovic, who will likely be matched up against Fajardo.
