The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) on Sunday announced its final five-man lineup for the 3x3 basketball competition of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games this December.
Headlining the roster will be Columbian Dyip star rookie CJ Perez and Meralco Bolts swingman Chris Newsome, along with Phoenix Fuel Masters stretch big Jason Perkins and San Miguel Beermen center Mo Tautuaa.
Blackwater star Mac Belo will stay on as a reserve.
Beermen guard Terrence Romeo has been cut from consideration, joining injured Batang Pier star Robert Bolick as the final names trimmed from the pool. Earlier taken out of the pool were Bolts' Baser Amer and Raymond Almazan, Magnolia Hotshots' Ian Sangalang and Chris Banchero, and Elite's Anthony Semerad.
"With the aim of winning the country's first ever SEA Games gold medal in 3x3 basketball while also making sure that it gets more attention from Philippine basketball fans, the SBP has put together a team that could accomplish both tasks," said SBP president Al Panlilio.
"We applaud the work that all of the players and the staff put in throughout their preparations and we wish them all the best in their upcoming competitions. Our squad is composed of a versatile bunch and we're confident that their hard work will pay off."
The tournament, which will be held for the first time in regional meet, will run from December 1 to 2 at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.
