Long-time assistant coach Aris Dimaunahan will now call the shots for the Blackwater Elite.
Blackwater team governor Silliman Sy told ESPN5 on Wednesday that Dimaunahan will replace Bong Ramos as head coach.
"Team Owner Mr. Dioceldo Sy has accepted the resignation of Coach Bong Ramos and designated first assistant coach Aris Dimaunahan as head coach for the second conference of season 44," Sy said in a short statement.
Rommel Adducul was elevated to first assistant coach, while Pat Aquino, another long-time deputy for Blackwater, was appointed as team manager, replacing Joel Co.
Dimaunahan is taking over Blackwater after an uneventful campaign in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.
Following a breakthrough 2018 season where Blackwater reached the Governors' Cup playoffs, Blackwater won just twice in 11 games to finish dead last in the opening conference of this season.
Several roster changes, which included the departures of Poy Erra, Nard Pinto and Paul Zamar, contributed to Blackwater's struggles.
Blackwater dealt Erram to NLEX last December to acquire rookies Paul Desiderio and Abu Tratter. Zamar was traded to San Miguel, while Pinto, who developed into a solid playmaker last season, signed with Meralco.
The Elite hope to turn their fortunes around with Dimaunahan at the helm, starting in the Commissioner's Cup.
