The Magnolia Hotshots will head into Wednesday's matchup against the streaking NorthPort Batang Pier with new import James Farr in the lineup. Magnolia acquired the services of the 6-foot-10 Farr who last played with Mitteldeutscher Basketball Club of the German Basketball Bundesliga.
Hotshots head coach Chito Victolero believes that Farr can be a great presence for his squad, which is looking for a man who can clog the paint.
"He is a veteran (player) in Europe, he can play on both ends of the floor with a high basketball IQ," Victolero said in a text message to ESPN5.
Farr declared for the 2016 NBA draft but went undrafted, prompting him to play in Europe where he found his stride.
The big man out of Evanston, Illinois first saw action with Alba Fehérvár in Hungary where he won the Hungarian league title.
He then took his talents to the France LNB Pro A league with Elan Chalon, where he averaged 6.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 28 games.
The former Xavier Musketeer, who averaged 10.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in his senior year, replaced John Fields who was only able to play one game with the Hotshots.
Fields had a lackluster outing with the Hotshots, only mustering 12 points and six rebounds in Magnolia's dismal loss to the Alaska Aces on June 5.
