The NorthPort Batang Pier have agreed to send star guard Stanley Pringle to Barangay Ginebra in exchange for Sol Mercado, Jervy Cruz, and Kevin Ferrer.
The trade was approved by the PBA Commissioner's Office on Tuesday.
Pringle, who skipped the first game of the Commissioner's Cup following ankle surgery, is averaging 14.5 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 rebounds in two games. He felt pain again in his ankle and has sat out the Batang Pier's last three games.
He will join a team that is deep in the guard rotation and will boost Ginebra on the offensive end alongside Justin Brownlee, Japeth Aguilar, Greg Slaughter and LA Tenorio. Pringle is expected to report to Ginebra, which owns a 3-3 slate, on Wednesday in preparation for their next match on Sunday against NLEX in Batangas City.
Cruz and Ferrer, meanwhile, will reunite with their former collegiate coach Jarencio, who handled the UST Growling Tigers from 2006 to 2013.
"Jervy and Kevin have played for me before so they know how I coach. Sol, on the other hand, is a competitor. So I'm happy with the players we're getting," Jarencio told ESPN5.com in Filipino.
Asked if adding new players will disrupt NorthPort's hot start, Jarencio said the three will help the team a great deal moving forward.
"There will be little adjustments. They're all professionals, they know how to adjust and go along with the system."
NorthPort, which currently holds a 5-1 card, has a game Wednesday versus Rain or Shine.
