Brownlee explodes for 37 in Gin Kings' decisive win vs. Road Warriors

RoS takes OT thriller, Ginebra wins in Pringle's debut (4:20)

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters survived the Columbian Dyip in overtime, 88-86, while Barangay Ginebra cruised past the NLEX Road Warriors, 100-85 in Stanley Pringle's Gin Kings debut. (4:20)

Justin Brownlee starred for Barangay Ginebra in their 100-85 drubbing of NLEX in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Sunday at the Batangas City Coliseum.

Brownlee finished with 37 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and five steals for the Gin Kings, who recently acquired last season's scoring champion in Stanley Pringle in a blockbuster trade.

Pringle didn't disappoint in his first game with Ginebra, finishing with 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals in nearly 36 minutes of play.

Reinforced by Pringle, the Gin Kings seized control in the third period and went on to go above the .500 mark with a 4-3 win-loss record.

Ginebra even led by 27 points on back-to-back three-pointers by LA Tenorio at the 3:34 mark of the penultimate quarter. The Gin Kings were never in any danger of giving up the lead even though the Road Warriors were able to bunch together some points multiple times in the final period.

NLEX reverted to its losing ways as the Road Warriors absorbed their seventh loss in eight games.

While Brownlee put up a superb showing, Tony Mitchell had an underwhelming outing for the Road Warriors in terms of offensive production.

Coming into the game, Mitchell was averaging 29.4 points, 13.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 blocks. But against Ginebra, he only finished with 17 points, eight boards, and a pair of dimes.

It was Poy Erram who led NLEX with 20 points to go with 14 rebounds.
