PBA teams San Miguel, Alaska pay tribute to COVID-19 frontliners

Members of PBA teams Alaska and San Miguel paid tribute to the resolute frontliners who are continuously serving the public during the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Arwind Santos led the Beermen in a video posted on Instagram on Monday showing the entire team singing their own rendition of "We Are The World" for all the tireless workers.

Joining the 38-year-old veteran were June Mar Fajardo, Terrence Romeo, Mo Tautuaa, Von Pessumal, Alex Cabagnot, Bacon Austria, Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Russel Escoto, Leo Austria, Marcio Lassiter, Billy Mamaril, Daniel de Guzman, Gelo Alolino, Wendell Comboy, Paul Zamar, Bambam Gamalinda and Bacon Austria.

God bless," said Santos.

The Aces, meanwhile, posted their own thanks last Saturday on their own official Instagram account.

"In the midst of this fight against COVID-19, Alaska Aces would like to give a big shoutout to all the people who have been working 24/7," head coach Jeffrey Cariaso opened. "We want to let you know we fully support you."

Sonny Thoss, JVee Casio, Mike DiGregorio, Abel Galliguez, MJ Ayaay, Yukien Andrada, Rodney Brondial, Rey Publico, JV Marcelino, Barkley EboƱa, Abu Tratter, Kevin Racal, Maverick Ahanmisi, Robbie Herndon, Vic Manuel, and Jeron Teng joined Cariaso in the video.

Team owner Wilfred Uytengsu wrapped up the video with his own message, too.

Let's all do our part as good corporate citizens help the country and pray for our country. God bless," he said.

This comes days after Cariaso started a campaign to help pay league personnel who are paid on a per-game basis, given how they have been the most affected people after the PBA suspended its season until further notice.
