Marcial says PBA 3x3 league likely to open next season

Alaska team governor Dickie Bachmann has been appointed chairman of the PBA's 3x3 committee, commissioner Willie Marcial said on Monday.

Bachmann, who was named to the post on Friday, will be joined by fellow governors Erick Arejola of NorthPort and Raymond Zorilla of Phoenix.

The committee is set to convene for the first time on Thursday, but the commissioner said a schedule for the 3x3 league's tip-off this season is unlikely to be agreed upon at the meeting.

"Pag-uusapan kung ano maganda para sa 3x3. Brainstorming kung papaano, suggestions. 'Yun muna ang pag-uusapan kasi baka next season pa 'yan e," he said.

The PBA 3x3 was supposed to begin in April until the coronavirus pandemic forced the league to indefinitely suspend the start of inaugural tournament along with the entire 2020 season.

All 12 teams are still likely to be joined by two guest clubs Mighty Bond and Dunkin Donuts.

"Kapag sinimulan namin 3x3, laging kasama 'yung dalawa (na guest team)," said Marcial.
