Larry Fonacier won't be joining the NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA bubble in Pampanga due to personal reasons, head coach Yeng Guiao confirmed on Monday.
"Yes, we excused him. His wife has health issues. The team and management understands his situation. Family is always a priority," Guiao told ESPN5.com in a message.
Fonacier is the first PBA player to opt out of the PBA restart, which is expected to last until December.
Even though Fonacier won't be with the team, Guiao assures that he will still receive his salary.
NLEX team manager Ronald Dulatre also said that the team has enough depth to compensate for the absence of Fonacier, who averaged 3.9 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists in the 2019 PBA Governors' Cup.
"Actually, we have 20 players -- we only have 15 lined up so I think it would be okay. Tony Semerad's still on the way," said Dulatre.
