More changes have been made to the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup schedule as TNT and Terrafirma remain in isolation due to health and safety protocols.
The league announced Wednesday that the Dyip's game on Friday against Rain or Shine and the Tropang Giga's matchup versus Meralco on Saturday have both been postponed.
The PBA bared a day ago that four TNT players have either returned positive COVID-19 tests or will need to be retested again for confirmation. Terrafirma, meanwhile, have all tested negative, but have been placed in quarantine since the squad played the Tropang Giga last Saturday.
According to league commissioner Willie Marcial, the TNT players who tested positive remain under monitoring.
"If they have symptoms, they will have to wait 10 days after the first time they were tested. If they don't have symptoms, they can get tested tomorrow and they only have to produce two consecutive negative tests before being cleared," explained Marcial in Filipino.
The positive tests caused the rescheduling of TNT's match with Magnolia and the Dyip's contest opposite Alaska, both originally slated on Wednesday. With both teams still quarantined, the league has moved around their succeeding games as well.
Friday's slate will now feature a double-header, with Barangay Ginebra opening the game day against Blackwater at 3 p.m. before San Miguel faces NLEX at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Meralco will take on Rain or Shine at 2 p.m., while Alaska and Phoenix Super LPG take the court at 4:35 p.m.
The light at the end of the tunnel seems closer for Terrafirma, meanwhile, as they are just awaiting another test as confirmation of their negative result.
"The Terrafirma players tested negative, but they'll get tested on Thursday and we'll find out the results on Friday for a confirmatory result. That's how we will determine if they can play on Sunday or not," stressed Marcial.
