Fil-Am Sage Tolentino commits to NCAA D1 school Auburn

Filipino-American and Gilas prospect Sage Tolentino will play NCAA Division I basketball with Auburn University, he announced Thursday.

"My family and I have prayed about this day since I was a kid. I am beyond blessed and I give God all the Glory," Tolentino said. "Auburn University's core traditions are passion and spirit and they are exactly the program I want to spend my time at developing at the next level. It's great to be an Auburn Tiger. War Eagle!"

Auburn, playing in a Southeastern Conference (SEC) it topped in 2019 as the fifth seed, recently made the Final Four under head coach Bruce Pearl.

Some of its most famous NBA alumni include Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, former Rookie of the Year Chuck Person, and former All-Stars Mike Mitchell and Eddie Johnson.

The 16-year-old seven-footer, based in Hawaii, has two more years left in high school and will suit up for the Tigers in 2022. He had previously received offers from Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee State and Cincinnati.

Tolentino recently carried Maryknoll High School to back-to-back Division I titles in the HHSSA after posting 13.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game.
