Jeff Goodman of Stadium, quoting Rockets coach Tod Kowalczyk, tweeted that Edu had injured his knee.
Toledo starting center AJ Edu is out indefinitely with a knee injury, Tod Kowalczyk told @Stadium.— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanHoops) December 3, 2020
Edu, who tore his ACL during the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup in Greece, reportedly suffered the injury during the Rockets' game against Oakland on Nov. 27. It was not immediately clear if this was the same knee he injured last year. The severity of this latest injury was also not immediately known.
Edu, who turns 21 on Jan. 1, sat out the 2019-20 NCAA season to recover from his ACL injury. This season he has played in just two games, averaging 1.0 point and 7.0 rebounds as the Rockets' starting center. In his freshman year in 2018-19, he played in 33 games and put in averages of 3.6 points and 3.9 rebounds.
The Rockets (2-2) are currently in first place in the West division of the Mid-American Conference.
