With free agency and the draft completed, and OTAs and minicamps scheduled for the next month and a half, here's a closer look at the depth chart for the Chicago Bears. This is not a 53-man roster projection (Starters in bold):
Trubisky is the unquestioned starter after playing in 12 games as a rookie. Daniel and Bray both have experience under new Bears head coach Matt Nagy.
Nagy said last month that Howard will be the primary back. Cohen is an exciting hybrid player, and Cunningham is a trusted third-down back.
The Bears upgraded the position in the offseason. Robinson and Gabriel were added in free agency while Chicago traded back into the second round to draft Miller out of Memphis.
Burton is expected to play a large role on offense after signing a deal that includes $22 million in guarantees. The Bears are waiting for Shaheen -- the club's second-round pick in 2017 -- to have a breakout year.
Leno is entering the second year of a lucrative extension. Massie has far less security. He's in the final year of his deal.
Long and Kush are both coming back from injuries. Daniels, whom the Bears selected in the second round, is expected to move from center to guard in the NFL.
The Bears want Whitehair to remain at center even though they drafted Daniels in the second round. Grasu is in danger of being cut.
The Bears paid big bucks to Fuller and Amukamara in the offseason. Callahan is an underrated nickel back.
Jackson and Amos developed nice chemistry last year. The Bears are still searching for a dependable backup safety.
The Bears believe Hicks and Goldman have Pro Bowl potential. Chicago needs Bullard to step up and round out their starting lineup up front.
Punter (1): Pat O'Donnell
The Bears re-signed O'Donnell in the offseason.
Kicker (1): Cody Parkey
Chicago guaranteed Parkey $9 million.
Long snapper (1): Patrick Scales
Scales missed last year because of an injury but he's still the front-runner to win the starting job.
Kick returner (1): Tarik Cohen
Cohen is a future Pro Bowler on special teams.
Punt returner (1): Tarik Cohen
Cohen returned a punt for a touchdown as a rookie.
