The Phoenix Suns made a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies on June 26 to acquire forward Jon Leuer, who has the ability to knock down deep shots. Leuer believes his game is a good fit with the Suns and their new signings. He spoke with Matt Petersen of Suns.com about the trade to Phoenix.
- "'I think we have made a lot of upgrades. Tyson Chandler is obviously a huge piece. Every time I’ve played against him he’s always just a monster,' said Leuer. 'He’s an anchor on defense. The way he rim-runs on offense just opens up things for shooters. Just knowing how the Suns utilize the stretch four, I think that’s going to open up things for myself, Markieff Morris and Mirza Teletovic. I think it will be a good compliment for the frontline to have him there and anchor the defense and be a big part of the offense, too.'"
Overall, Leuer has made 36.7 percent of his three-point attempts in the four years he's been in the NBA.
Leuer is signed through 2015-16 and will make $1,035,000 this coming season.
