Report: Leuer's skill-set a good fit with Suns

The Phoenix Suns acquired forward Jon Leuer on June 26 as part of a draft-day trade with the Memphis Grizzlies. Leuer has the ability to hit long-range shots and rebound, which makes him a good fit with the Suns. From Paul Coro of The Arizona Republic:

"What began looking like a competition for Leuer and Mirza Teletovic to win the backup power forward job turned into a partnership. Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said the two could continue to share the role, even in the same games, or play some together (Leuer at center). 'That really spaces the floor,' Leuer said. ... Seeing where his shots will come has keyed his practice routine and boosts his confidence to take those shots during games. The hope is he returns to his sharpness of two seasons ago, when he hit 49 percent from the field and 47 percent from 3-point range."

Leuer has done well in the preseason as he is averaging 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. Leuer, based on the preseason, will likely enter the regular season as the main backup power forward behind Markieff Morris.
