The Oregon Ducks and Wisconsin Badgers will square off in the 2020 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The game is on Wednesday, Jan. 1, at 5 p.m., ET, and you can watch it live on ESPN and on the ESPN app.
How did Oregon get here?
At 11-2, the Ducks returned to the top of the college football world in head coach Mario Cristobal's second full year as head coach, winning the Pac-12. A win would give them their fourth straight in the Rose Bowl (1917, 2012 and 2015) and their latest victory was a 45-38 victory against none other than the Wisconsin Badgers.
As ESPN'S Kyle Bonagura mentioned in his preview of the bowl game, quarterback Justin Herbert needs to have an impressive final college game to impress NFL scouts -- he could be a top-10 pick in the 2020 NFL draft. If the Ducks win, Herbert will be one of just three quarterbacks to lead Oregon to a Rose Bowl win in the past 100 years.
Bonagura also mentions just how key Oregon's offensive line will be. It's led by offensive tackle Penei Sewell, who just won the Outland Trophy for the best lineman in college football, while also receiving Heisman Trophy votes.
How did Wisconsin get here?
At 10-3, the Badgers won the Big Ten West before falling short in the Big Ten Championship game to Ohio State. Wisconsin has now qualified for 18 straight bowl games, and a win in the Rose Bowl would give the Badgers their sixth straight bowl game victory.
Jonathan Taylor is undoubtedly the best running back in the country, having won the Doak Walker Award the past two seasons, and is just the seventh player in FBS history to reach 6,000 yards rushing in his career. Can he get going against a rush defense that ranked 10th in the country, allowing just 106.8 yards per game?
Who's going to win the Rose Bowl?
Oregon is currently a 3-point favorite and has a 54.1% chance of winning, according to ESPN's Football Power Index.
