Hall of Fame JSU coach Gorden dies at 90

W.C. Gorden, a Hall of Fame coach who led Jackson State's football team to a 28-game SWAC winning streak, died Friday.

SWAC details spring football plan with Feb. start

The SWAC announced it will begin its spring football season on Feb. 27, with a plan to play the conference championship game on May 1.

SWAC lays out plans to move football to spring

The SWAC has joined other conferences in postponing fall sports, but it is the first to announce specific plans to move football to the spring, including a six-game conference schedule with games beginning in late February or early March.

Longtime HBCU game canceled over coronavirus

Jackson State and Tennessee State were scheduled to play in the 31st Southern Heritage Classic on Sept. 12, but the game has been canceled. It is believed to be the first college football game canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
