Mary Hardin-Baylor won its second Division III championship in three years Friday night, beating Mount Union 24-16 in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl.
Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, turned out the current head coaches at Iowa State and Toledo, along with prominent assistants at Ohio State and Michigan, who all emerged from an intense setting in which about 10 percent of undergrads play football.
Mount Union limited defending champion Mary Hardin-Baylor to 144 yards and went on to a 12-0 victory Friday night to capture its 13th Division III football national championship.
