And that is it from us tonight. It was a brilliant day for Zalmi, but don't forget to join us for the double-header Sunday tomorrow, when Zalmi meet Multan Sultans and Islamabad United play Lahore Qalandars. Until then, stay safe and take care, as on behalf of Karthik and Ranjith, this is Himanshu signing off. Good night.

Faisal: "I still feel that kamran akmal been wasted in last 5 years bcz he got so much to offer as a T20 batsman"

Time now for the presentations.

Wahab Riaz, the winning captain: "The way boys started wasn't good, but the experience came in from Kamran Akmal, and hats-off to Miller. Irfan is showing the attitude, and he's a great guy. We are looking at the playoffs by taking it one-by-one."

David Miller is the Player of the Match for his 73 off just 46 balls: "It was an enjoyable innings, but started a bit rusty. The team needed us to build a partnership at that stage [10 for 2]. I knew I was two balls away from getting to a run-a-ball. I gave myself enough time there. And we wanted to get through the powerplay with little damage."

And in another update from the PSL, Hasan Ali is set to miss the remainder of PSL 2021.

Faisal: "After watching kamran Kamal innings.what about him in pakistan batting line up for upcoming T20 WC?" --- That looks like a far-fetched dream at the moment.

The Gladiators can get to at most eight points now, with a highly improbable chance of making the playoffs.

Muhammad jalal: "It's all over.. you even can't imagine the downfall of such a promising team...Better luck next time."

Faran: "5 ducks sums up Quetta innings."

11.58pm And in the end, a comfortable win for the Zalmi. A 61-run margin can prove to be a pretty handy one in the latter stages if the net run rate comes into the equation. Miller, Akmal and Powell were aggressive with the bat, and Irfan was impressive with the ball. The Zalmi bowlers kept hurting the Gladiators despite a 62-run opening stand, and needless to say, du Plessis' absence also made a difference.

Mohammad Imran to Sarfaraz Ahmed, 1 run, a short ball on middle and leg again, and this one too is pulled to deep squarer, although is much straighter and right down to the fielder
Mohammad Imran to Sarfaraz Ahmed, FOUR, pulled away for four. Short of a length on middle and leg, and swiveled to the right of the deep square leg fielder
Mohammad Imran to Sarfaraz Ahmed, no run, plays the scoop from a full-toss on middle and leg but gets it on the higher part of the bat and also the glove to square leg instead. Looked like Sarfaraz wanted it to be called a no-ball, but it wasn't
Mohammad Imran to Sarfaraz Ahmed, 2 runs, full-toss on middle and leg, and Powell has some footy skills to show again. That was played pretty high and driven to deep point's right, where the fielder kept it to a single
Mohammad Imran to Sarfaraz Ahmed, no run, gets a leading edge to third man after attempting a heave to this full ball on fourth stump
Mohammad Imran to Sarfaraz Ahmed, no run, yorker on middle and leg, and Sarfaraz is nearly bowled. But he stops the ball from flicking the stumps with his right boot

Imran will finish off the formalities

  • Wahab Riaz4-0-20-2
  • Umaid Asif3-0-17-2
Wahab Riaz to Zahir Khan, 2 runs, chipped to deep point after making room. Wahab followed the batter, and pitched that full and outside leg as Zahir manages a late loft
Wahab Riaz to Zahir Khan, no run, tries repeating the shot, but can't get bat to ball this time. Wahab bowls full and slightly wide of off, and it's a dot ball this time
Wahab Riaz to Zahir Khan, FOUR, backs away and lofts over point for four. Bowled full and outside off, and his late loft finds the fence to the right of the deep point fielder

Zahir is the last man in

Wahab Riaz to Zahid Mahmood, OUT, middle stump uprooted. That was pitched on a good length on middle and leg, and shaped away from the batter, who was clearly late in trying to cover the line of the ball. Not an easy ball for a No. 10 by any means, and that's another one for Wahab

Zahid Mahmood b Wahab Riaz 0 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Wahab Riaz to Zahid Mahmood, no run, goes for the fuller delivery on fifth stump, and the batter can't get the glide to third man away

Zahid in at No. 10

Wahab Riaz to Mohammad Hasnain, OUT, slower ball on off, and edged behind. Looking for the expansive drive on the off side, he swung his bat hard at it while remaining rooted in the crease and has to depart for a first-ball duck. Good, high take from Akmal to his right

Mohammad Hasnain c †Kamran Akmal b Wahab Riaz 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Zain Ul Abideen: "Painful to see QG play like this which was a top team in PSL just a couple of seasons ago."

Umaid Asif to Sarfaraz Ahmed, no run, good length on middle and off, gets an inside edge on to his pad
Umaid Asif to Sarfaraz Ahmed, 1 run, OUT, a direct hit, and Khurram is run-out. He lobbed that full delivery on middle and off in the air toward midwicket, and the bowler gave the chase. It was not caught, and Khurram casually ran towards the non-striker's end and was found short

Khurram Shahzad run out 11 (20b 0x4 0x6) SR: 55.00

Umaid Asif to Sarfaraz Ahmed, 2 runs, fuller on off, flicked off the front foot to deep midwicket
Umaid Asif to Khurram Shahzad, 1 run, goes for the uppish drive but gets an outside edge to third man. The fielder runs to his left and slips, but keeps that to one
Umaid Asif to Sarfaraz Ahmed, 1 leg bye, fuller and closer to the pads this time, flicked to square leg
Umaid Asif to Sarfaraz Ahmed, FOUR, slapped over point. That was short and wide outside off, and Sarfaraz rode the bounce to cut that late and over the fielder's head for another four. Some consolation runs here from the captain

Umaid is back

Powell to Sarfaraz Ahmed, 1 run, wider of the crease from the bowler, who goes full and wider outside off. Driven to mid-off

Around the wicket

Powell to Sarfaraz Ahmed, SIX, he connects this time though. Waited for it to come, as it was a scrambled seam ball and full on off. He swung hard and sent that over the deep midwicket boundary
Powell to Sarfaraz Ahmed, no run, full and outside off. Sarfaraz goes for a hoick, but is beaten
Powell to Sarfaraz Ahmed, no run, another slower ball, this time almost a yorker on off. Drilled back to the bowler
Powell to Khurram Shahzad, 1 run, slower delivery and fuller on middle, driven to long-on
Powell to Khurram Shahzad, no run, wider and on a good length outside off, the attempted cut doesn't find timing

Here's Powell to have a go with the ball.
