Top-seeded Team Liquid had no trouble with FlyQuest on Sunday, sweeping their semifinal match 3-0 to claim a spot in the grand final of the North America LCS Spring Split playoffs.
Liquid, who went 14-4 during the regular season but closed on a three-match losing streak, earned a bye in the quarterfinals and chose their opponent in the semifinals, a reward for earning the top overall seed. They chose wisely, opting for fourth-seeded FlyQuest over third-seeded Team SoloMid, despite losing to FlyQuest in the penultimate week of the regular season.
Despite entering on a losing skid, Liquid dominated the best-of-five match from the get-go, and South Korean top laner Jung "Impact" Eon-yeong took MVP honors.
The victory set up a fascinating matchup in the final against TSM, who pulled off a reverse sweep of second-seeded Cloud9 on Saturday behind MVP Soren "Bjergsen" Bjerg. TSM handed Liquid two of their four regular-season losses -- making them the only team to go 2-0 vs. Liquid -- with one coming in Week 4 and the other in Week 9, the final week of the regular season.
The final in the League of Legends competition is scheduled for April 13 at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Mo. The winner will claim $100,000 and qualify for the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational, with the runner-up earning $50,000.
