Dimitris Froxylias' goal boosted Dumbarton's hopes of avoiding the Ladbrokes Championship relegation play-off with a 1-0 win over Brechin.
The Cypriot slotted home Andy Stirling's pass after 37 minutes for the only goal of the game.
Stirling had already fired wide during the opening exchanges and Liam Dick saw an effort blocked as the hosts started strongly.
A scramble in the Dumbarton box saw the ball hooked off the line shortly before Froxylias struck at the other end, while Brechin were unable to convert some late pressure into a clear chance.
