Gonzalo Higuain had the assist on Miami's goal as he spotted Robinson ready to go on a run and fed him the ball. Robinson sped toward the goal from the left side and sent a right-footer that caromed off the left arm of Philadelphia goalkeeper Matthew Freese and into the net.
Marsman made three saves for Miami, which had a 15-11 edge in shots. Miami placed six on target and the Union had four.
While the game was still scoreless, Higuain had a chance for Miami in the 53rd minute but his right-footer was saved by Freese.
The Union had an opportunity 10 minutes later but Sergio Santos' left-footed shot was stopped by Marsman.
Robinson had a chance for a second goal in the 72nd minute -- one minute after his tally -- but his right-footer was just wide of the left post.
Miami held a 7-2 edge in shots in the first half and had a solid opportunity in the 45th minute. Robinson was on the doorstep of the goal but he sent his right-footed shot just wide right of the net.
