Leeds United announce spate of signings to bolster squad

Leeds United have announced a further two signings as part of their flurry of transfer activity, with former England international Rob Green among those moving to Elland Road.

England under-21 midfielder Matt Grimes became the fifth addition, joining on a season-long loan from Swansea, where he worked with new Leeds manager Garry Monk.

Grimes, 20, who made his Premier League debut for Swansea in April 2015, has more recently spent time on loan at Blackburn Rovers, making 12 league appearances.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "It's a great feeling. This was a no-brainer for me -- it's such a big club and we're looking to have a really strong season.

"I'm really excited to come here and play football -- that's the aim for me this season. Coming here gives me a really good chance to do that at a high level."

Meanwhile, Kemar Roofe, 23, has joined on a four-year deal from Oxford United to become their sixth signing of the summer.

Roofe started his career at West Bromwich Albion before signing for Oxford in 2015, where he netted 26 goals in 49 appearances.

He said: "It's an amazing feeling -- I don't think I'll actually realise how big the club is until the first game of the season, but I'm amazed by what I've seen so far.

"As soon as I found out, I was really pleased to be a part of a club like this. The club has a great history and a bright future as well.

"You can tell there's something exciting happening here with the signings we're making -- they're all good signings."

The pair join goalkeeper Green, who has moved from Queens Park Rangers.

The 36-year-old former West Ham keeper said: "It's exciting to be here. I've spoken to the manager and I know what he's got in store and what he's planning.

"I'll join the squad as one of the older members of the group and the role I'll have to play with my experience really appeals to me."

Green, Roofe and Grimes join Kyle Bartley, Marcus Antonsson and Hadi Sacko as Monk's other new additions.
