Ex-catcher, longtime coach Mike Ryan dies at 78

Mike Ryan, a backup catcher when the Red Sox went to the World Series in 1967 and the bullpen coach when the Phillies won the 1980 World Series, has died. He was 78. Ryan spent 35 years in professional baseball, and he appeared in 636 games in the majors.
