The Philippine Superliga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup action continues this weekend after an exciting two-day pool round held on Wednesday and Thursday at the Sands SM By the Bay.

Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons of Petron XCS, DM DemontaƱo and Jackie Estoquia of Sta. Lucia (Team A), Nieza and Jeziela Viray of Foton, and Mich Morente and Fritz Gallenero of F2 Logistics punched their tickets to the quarterfinals by going undefeated and topping their respective pools.

Rondina and Pons will continue their quest for a title repeat with a battle against Jonah Sabete and Bianca Lizares of Sta. Lucia (Team B) in the next stage.

DemontaƱo and Estoquia, who served as wildcard entries in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Manila Open earlier this month, will get their mettle tested by Cherry Vivas and Janine Navarro of Cignal (Team B).

The Viray twins, reigning champions of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), are looking to make a splash in their PSL debut. They will face tough competition in last year's finalists Patty Orendain and Fiola Ceballos of Generika-Ayala (Team A).

"At first we were struggling. We had trouble jumping and playing on the sands, but after we made some adjustments, things became a little bit easy," Jeziela said after winning their second game that ensured their quarterfinal entry.

Morente and Gallenero, on the other hand, will figure in a sand duel with Mylene Paat and Rap Aguilar of Cignal (Team A).

In the men's division, Bryan Bagunas and James Natividad of Sands By the Bay emerged on top of Pool A. They will be pitted against Philip Bagalay and Gregory Utupo of Smart in the semis.

Pool B leaders Mike Abria and Jessie Lopez of Cignal will have to move past Kris Roy Guzman and Lemuel Arbasto of Foton to reach the finals.

The men's semifinals begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the women's quarterfinals at 10 a.m. A celebrity match will take place before the women's semifinals on the same day, while the finals for both divisions are scheduled on Sunday.
