BMX rider Daniel Caluag, the lone Filipino gold medalist in the 2014 Asian Games, will be the country's flag bearer for this year's Asiad. (0:19)

BMX rider Daniel Caluag has been designated by Asian Games Philippines Chef de Mission Richard Gomez as the Philippines' flag-bearer for the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.

Caluag, who was the country's lone gold medalist in the previous Asian Games held in Incheon, Korea, will lead the Philippine contingent of 272 athletes and 63 officials from 35 sports during the opening ceremony on August 18 at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta.

The US-based athlete represented the Philippines in the 2012 London Olympics. He won a bronze medal in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games and claimed gold in the 2013 SEA Games and 2013 Asian BMX Cycling Championships.
