Asiad medalists to appear before Duterte, senators next week

The Filipino athletes who won medals at the recently-concluded 18th Asian Games will visit the Senate of the Philippines on Monday.

The winning athletes will be honored and will receive citations for their impressive performances.

Gold medalist Margielyn Didal, who ruled the women's street skateboarding competition, paid a courtesy call to Sen. Manny Pacquiao on Wednesday and was given a check of an undisclosed amount as additional incentive.

After paying a visit to the Senate, the Asiad medalists will appear before Pres. Rodrigo Duterte at Malacanang on Wednesday, where the cash incentives will be awarded.

Apart from the monetary incentives provided for by the law, the athletes will also get additional incentives from Duterte. Gold medalists will receive P1 million each, while silver and bronze medalists will get P500,000 and P200,000, respectively.
