The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) revealed on Wednesday the 23-man squad list for the Philippine Azkals' FIFA World Cup qualifying match against China on October 15 at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
Cardiff City FC goalkeeper Neil Etheridge returns to the squad after missing out on the previous international window due to a hamstring injury. Luke Woodland also breaks into the roster after recovering from an injury.
The October 15 fixture marks the first time the Azkals would be able to field Etheridge against China, who defeated the Philippines twice in 2019 already.
The Azkals have bolstered their depth on defense as well by including two new faces in Edison Suerti and Niko de Vera. Suerti is a 21-year old right back who plies his trade with Norwegian club Brattvag IL, while 23-year old de Vera is a left back playing on the reserves of American club Portland Timbers.
Yrick Gallantes and Mikel Baas, who made their debuts in the 4-1 victory against Guam in the last window, also have impressed the team management enough to be recalled for national team duties.
