Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham Tolentino announced at the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum Tuesday that he will be seeking reelection on Nov. 27.
He also announced the inclusion of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al Panlilio and Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez of fencing and modern pentathlon to the ticket.
Filing of candidacies will open on Oct. 1 and will last until the end of the month.
Tolentino is likely to face archery president Atty. Clint Aranas for the top post, but he is open to facing other opponents as well.
"Maganda kung may kalaban. Well and good. Para naman may choices," said Tolentino, who is also the head of PhilCycling.
Panlilio, meanwhile, said that he is prepared to serve the Filipino athletes.
"I will be happy and a privilege to work with Cong. Bambol and serve under his leadership. Sports has been close to my heart and I would like to contribute in shaping the future of Philippine sports for the benefit of our athletes too," the SBP head told ESPN5.com.
Tolentino was elected in July 2019 to assume the post vacated by ABAP Pres. Ricky Vargas.
